Step One
The first color the machine will stitch out is the "applique fabric color". It will straight stitch the applique fabric to the background fabric

Step Two
Cut away the excess fabric. For this snowman I used batting under the applique fabric. |
|
Step Three Put the hoop back in the machine and let the machine finish the design! |

Machine embroidered applique is very easy to do. Your sewing machine will do most of the work. I particularly enjoy doing applique with my embroidery machine because it goes so fast! I believe this method is simpler than the template applique method. There is no need to worry about where the applique template needs to go! When your machine reaches the final step the magic really happens! Dont worry too much about where you cut the material in step one. Cut the applique fabric as close as you can with out agonizing over it. I found it is better to have the applique fabric a bit to big rather than a bit to small. A bit too small can lead to the applique not getting sewed down properly. After the applique is done, remove it from your sewing machine fold the background fabric right where the applique fabric ends and give any fibers sticking out a hair cut!
